Welcome!

6chan is a small, independent imageboard project made by students and hobbyist programmers.

The idea behind 6chan is pretty simple: make an anonymous imageboard that is fun to use, easy to understand, and not controlled by algorithms trying to keep you doomscrolling forever.

We're building it as an independent project, with our own software, servers, and ideas about how an online community should work.

It's still a work in progress, and we're learning as we go.

Our Mission

Our main goal is to create a place where people can post, discuss things, share images, and just hang out without everything being centered around likes, followers, recommendations, or advertisements.

We want 6chan to feel more like an old-school corner of the internet while still having some modern features.

Some things we care about:

• Anonymous posting
• Minimal tracking
• No personalized recommendation algorithm
• No engagement-bait system
• Simple and lightweight software
• Open discussion
• Community moderation
• Keeping the project independent

Of course, being open doesn't mean absolutely anything goes. Things that cause actual harm or break the law still have to be dealt with.

Why Donate?

6chan is currently a small project, and keeping an online service running costs money.

Donations can help with things like:

• Server and hosting costs
• Domain names
• Storage and backups
• Bandwidth
• Development resources
• Other small costs involved in keeping the site online

Even a small donation helps.

You don't need to donate to use 6chan, and donating doesn't give anyone special control over the project.

Where Your Money Goes

We want to keep things relatively simple and transparent.

Money received through donations is primarily intended for the costs of running and developing 6chan.

If the project ever grows enough to have significant expenses, we'll try to document those expenses as clearly as possible.

We don't want donations to turn into some mysterious pool of money.

Thank You 🩷

Whether you donate, use the site, report a bug, contribute code, or simply tell someone about 6chan, we absolutely appreciate it!

6chan is a hobby project, but we're hoping it can eventually become a nice little independent corner of the internet

Thanks for checking it out!
