Hi, I'm John Verwolf, and I am building www.rhododendra.com, the largest database of rhododendron species and hybrids on the internet.

Rhododendra is free and open source software, with public domain data, and a plan to move all photos to creative commons. It will enable the appreciation and study of the genus in ways that were previously impossible, by storing data and photos of every species and hybrid via community contributions. I am building rhododendra so that it does not rely on me. All data and photos will become exportable, so others can archive and preserve the data contained and contributed here. If I get hit by a bus, I'm building Rhododendra so that others can take over the project on sound legal footing.

Rhododendra is free to use, but not to make. I pay hundreds of dollars a year (sometimes hundreds a month) in software tooling and hosting fees. Not to mention hundreds upon hundreds of hours developing it in my free time. Rhododendra needs your help - your donations will help me to cover costs, and to support my work. Let's make our knowledge of Rhododerons accessible to everyone.
