Half plant-biologist and half artist, I began The Lowly Esculent in 2017 to share my fascination for the past and present of plant-human relationships. I have always been frustrated by the number of people who have the power and means to make positive change decide to remain apathetic, making food choices that support a system of exploitation, abuse, and greed.

When choose to buy local, to support small farmers, chefs, and makers, we choose to support our communities over capitalism.
