What is Tincan Messenger? Tincan is a fully open-source, peer-to-peer messaging app designed for extreme privacy. We believe that true privacy means the server shouldn't just promise not to read your messages—it should be cryptographically blind to them.

Unlike traditional messengers that rely on central databases and phone numbers, Tincan routes your conversations directly device-to-device via a WebRTC mesh network. When you're offline, encrypted payloads are dropped into a zero-knowledge blind mailbox. Your identity is just a cryptographic key generated locally. No phone numbers, no central user directory, and zero metadata.

Why we need your support Tincan is built for privacy, not for profit. We do not (and mathematically cannot) monetize your data. There are no ads, no premium subscriptions, and no venture capital investors demanding a return on your privacy.

While our server costs are kept incredibly low thanks to our true P2P architecture, developing, auditing, and maintaining high-security cryptography takes significant time and resources.
